Easy Bento Snack Ideas Vol. 1

July 25, 2016 23 Comments

If you’re following me on IG or FB, then you’ll know my #PrepSerye posts since Gwen started school. Yes, she’s back to school and I now have a pre-schooler. Unlike the previous years when there are dramas like crying and mommy-don’t-leave-me-here, everything went smooth and stress-free, YES! Well, except for the waking-up part because her class starts at 8 AM, and that’s too early because WE are not morning persons, so all of us are adjusting.

Anyway, for her first day of classes, June 20, I decided to make her baon to make her first day special. I didn’t intend to make her a bento on a daily basis but when I learned that she’s so happy whenever she opens her lunchbox at school, tinuloy-tuloy ko na. When I attended the first Parent-Teacher conference, one of the teachers said, “Mommy, ang cute-cute po ng baon lagi ni Gwen, kayo po gumagawa nun?” Aba, syempre, abot-tenga naman ngiti ko di ba.

I’m a newbie at this bento thing, plus I have no artistic and creative bone. But with the help of Pinterest, I’m slowly learning. So let me share to you what I made for Gwen during the first week. Just 4 snacks kasi madalas silang walang pasok or may activity every Friday.

On her first day, I just made a heart-shaped cheese-on-cheese sandwich and cereals. It’s cream cheese plus a cheese slice on her sandwich. Her school does not allow juices, only Yakult, milk drinks and water.

For Tuesday, because she’s happy with her baon and requested for another surprise baon, ginanahan naman ako. I made sandwich roll-ups with cheese and peanut butter spread. I used strawberry Pocky as sticks to secure the bread. Plus chocolate Knick Knacks.

For Wednesday, she requested Knick Knacks as her baon. But I still wanted to make a sandwich so I made cheese sandwich and added some cookies. Oh, and I bought Nori in the supermarket, level up!

I wanted to include fruits in her bento, the problem is, the only fruit she eats is banana. And finally, I made use of the Lava cake, shaped into an ice cream cone. Nung una kasi, Lava cake lang talaga ang ipapabaon ko araw-araw kaya lang nag-enjoy naman ako sa paggawa ng baon :).

That’s it for Gwen’s baon during her first week in school. After that, I bought some more bento tools in Japan Home and Daiso.

I’ll be sharing more easy snack ideas for newbies like me in the coming weeks. In the meantime, do follow me on IG, @badudets, because I get to share there daily.

I would love to do this as well. I don’t prepare baon since we are homeschooling but we usually bring baon on Sundays. I would want to start doing this but first I need to buy tools to use. Looking forward for more of your Bentos.

Question frist: can you preserve banana ba? kasi whenever I slice them for the kids, they become dark-colored after a few minutes. I want to send them bananas too, but i always send them with peel.

Cute cute ng gawa mo kaya. I love the face with the heart clip and the ice cream cone with banana top most of all. Ako wala talagang bento skills. I just buy them packed snacks and pack them lunch and send them to their tuesday mapeh classes like that haha.

I tried doing bento also for my older kids. They appreciated their baon naman but I have a lot to learn. One thing for my eldest daughter is she told me, that she loves my designs, but as much as possible, keep the variety two at the most. I thought what haha, ang hirap naman mag bento ng 2 lang. So I will have to make do in being creative sa sculpting nalang siguro. Goodluck and good work to all bento mommas.

My before preschooler also experience having bento baon, that’s why I know how proud and excited he is, showing my simple bento to his classmates and teacher. I even made blog posts showcasing my works, and brag to reach bento posts up to 100.

But, well… there’s also negative comments like, “ma-diabetes” and I have to admit, it’s also time consuming.

Good for you, to have the time to prepare those cute snacks. This made me consider bento-ing again for my youngest. Girl pa naman, I better search on pinterest for girly cute designs. And healthier option na rin =)

Yes, I try to include healthier options din especially now that the school requires specific food to prepare since Nutrition Month nila. Wow, ang dami, 100 bento posts, I better look at your archives para makakuha ng idea Einz 🙂

I dipped the banana slices in lemon with water first. Kaya lang ayaw ni Gwen, naasiman sa lemon. Kaya with peel na rin yung sumunod :p

Now that my girls are already in high school I no longer need to prepare baon for them. Preparing baon was always so stressful for me. Let alone doing it bento style. Haha! You’re doing a good job of it though. I’m sure the more you practice the better you’ll get. 🙂
