In the Kitchen: Bistek Tagalog recipe

October 5, 2018 16 Comments

In the Kitchen will be the category where I will post some of the recipes I cook for my family. I promise you these are super-duper easy recipes because I’m really not an expert in the kitchen plus the fact that I don’t want recipes with so many steps/how-tos. Just 4-6 instructions, anything more than that, I skip the page of my recipe book and look for simpler recipes. So newbies in the kitchen, I hope you’ll try my recipes or suggestions and let’s share kitchen secrets!

Over a month since I became a full-time mom, wooohooo! One thing I enjoy doing is cooking, noon pa naman, kaya I wish to have my dream kitchen soon! Anyway, ramdam nyo ba ang mahal ng gulay? Ramdam na ramdam ko momshies hehe, hindi nga ako makapagluto ng sopas na maraming repolyo at carrots e :(. Dahil dyan, all meat recipe muna ise-share ko ngayon.

Here’s a mom hack for you, I discovered the breakfast steak cut, mas manipis pa sya kesa sa sirloin. Kaya mas madali syang lutuin at palambutin, I will share more recipes using this cut. But first, eto munang Bistek Tagalog.

Nagpa-guess the ulam nga pala ako sa FB page last time, at ang nakahula ng Beef Steak is Jhane Posadas.

How to cook Bistek Tagalog

bistek tagalog recipe

Ingredients

Beef in breakfast steak cut, you can also use sirloin – pounded para mas malambot
8 pcs. calamansi
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp. oyster sauce
4 cloves garlic
1 large onion
salt, pepper, sugar to taste
oil

Instructions

  1. Marinate the beef in the mixture of calamansi juice, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and pepper. Put inside the ref at least an hour, okay na yan since manipis naman ang cut ng beef.
  2. When it’s time to cook, heat the oil in a pan.
  3. Fry the beef, half-cook lang kasi lulutuin ulit sya together with the marinade. Set aside.
  4. In the same pan, saute the garlic and onions. Set aside a few pieces of onions pang-garnish or toppings.
  5. Pour the marinade, add some water and bring to a boil.
  6. Put back the fried beef, let it simmer for 10-15 minutes or until the beef is tender. If you used thicker beef slices, the longer it will cook.
  7. Season with salt, pepper, sugar. You may add more calamansi juice if you want it more tangy.
  8. Top with onions and serve.

Enjoy! I share more recipes in my Facebook page and Instagram, @badudets. Follow the hashtag, #BadudetsCooks. See you there!
