We celebrated our first Christmas as Mommy, Daddy and baby Jessica Gwen. I gave birth last December 22, 2010 at 9:53 AM, the happiest day of my life.

After debating whether I’ll do the conventional way of sterilizing bottles which is boiling or use an electric sterilizer, obviously, the easiest way won. All mommies should watch this promotional video from Department of Health’s Unang Yakap campaign. It aims to cut down neonatal deaths in the Philippines with the help of the Essential Newborn Care (ENC) protocol. Did you know that the Philippines is one of the 42 countries in the world where 90% of all global deaths of under 5 year old children are accounted to. The ENC protocol focuses on the 1st few hours of life of the newborn classifying the procedures into time-bound, non-time bound, and unnecessary procedures.
Time-bound procedures that must be performed first are immediate drying, skin to skin contact followed by clamping of the cord after 1 to 3 minutes, non-separation of the newborn from the mother, and breastfeeding initiation.

Expectant moms are advised to listen to classical music which is good for the baby. So every night, I listen to Mozart in my laptop and just level up the volume so that baby can also listen to classical music. There are times that Jeff is playing his own tunes that I have to use a headphone to stick on my belly just so the baby can still listen to classical music. This may be quite unfortable at times.

My baby arsenal is still not complete but most of the essentials are ticked off from the list. Since Christmas is just around the corner, I might as well post my wishlist here hoping that Santa Claus will read this blog, haha. Most of my wishlist are just toys and gears for the baby.
