DIY United Nation Costume Idea: Greece

When Gwen was in Kindergarten, her school celebrated United Nations. For the kids’ costumes, they have to list down their countries of choice, paunahan. The popular ones were Japan, Philippines (para pwede na yung ginamit sa Buwan Ng Wika), Korea, India, Egypt, and China.

I can’t think of other countries na madali lang ang costume. So I searched online first and chose Greece. I did not buy a ready made costume for Gwen at that time, bumili lang ako ng tela tapos pinatahi. I spent less than 1,000 pesos as compared to pag bumili ako ng costume plus accessories.

Since it’s back to school na for most of you, I’m sure busy na ang mga mommies sa pagcocover ng mga books at notebooks. Kamusta naman ang 10 books at 10 notebooks di ba?

One thing that you’ll do is to stick labels with names on them on almost all of your child’s things. Kahit minsan walang epek kahit tadtarin mo pa ng pangalan ang gamit, nawawala pa rin :p.

Summer is about to end and you know what’s next right? Well aside sa rainy season, it’s Back to School na! Ang bilis talaga ng panahon, when I was a student, I always look forward to shop for school supplies sa National Book Store (san pa ba?)

Pero now that I’m a mom who needs to be practical, syempre we need to set priorities and work within our budget lang. We need to consider other expenses like tuition fees, uniforms, school shoes, school bus fees, then school supplies.

But don’t worry mommies, National Book Store is here for a stress-free back to school shopping. Be sure to come to the Grand Back to School Fair at the Glorietta Activity Center on May 24 to 26, 2019.

We are now done with Grade 2, finally! Yesterday was Gwen’s Recognition Day, she got a Silver medal in Academics, and 10 medals for the competitions she won throughout the school year.

After Buwan Ng Wika last August, another school activity that needs costumes is the United Nations Celebration this October. A lot of parents will be searching for places where to buy United Nations costumes for their kids. Well, 2 places come to mind, Divisoria and Baclaran. If you live in the Northern part of Metro Manila, Tutuban Mall or 168 Shopping Mall in Divisoria is your nearest source. If you’re from the South like Cavite, go to GG Cruz St. in Baclaran, at the back of Baclaran Church.

Where to buy United Nations Costumes for Kids?

I have bought costumes for Gwen and for my nephew from this shop before. I like to buy here because it’s inside 168 Mall where it’s airconditioned so if you are bringing your kids, they will be comfortable when fitting their costumes.

GG Cruz St. in Baclaran

GG Cruz St. can be found at the back of Baclaran Church. You won’t miss it because there’s a welcome post that shows the street name at the beginning of the street. Also, there are already a lot of stores selling costumes and gowns in the street.

There are plenty of online shops these days that also sells United Nations Costumes, check Facebook, Lazada, or Shopee.

National Book Store shopping haul + Back to school tips

One of the things I look forward to when I was a student is shopping for back to school items. Come month of May after enrollment, Nanay, my brother, and I will troop to National Book Store at Grand Central in Caloocan to buy things needed for school. I’m always excited to buy my notebooks, April pa lang I’m thinking of my theme for the school year… kung puro Hello Kitty notebooks ba, or plain na Corona, etc.
