My little Indian girl in a tutu (DIY Indian costume)

November 6, 2012 9 Comments

I’m back! We just came back from sunny Boracay and as much as I’d like to post all the things that happened, I still have a lot of backlogs. So before our vacation, allow me to start to post about the trick or treat activities before we left.

From my DIY Halloween costumes post, I got inspired by the girl’s tutu and decided to make one for Gwen. She will be a glamorized Indian, hehe… Thank God for YouTube, making a no-sew tutu is easy-peasy! It’s so easy I wanna make tutus in all colors. All you need are tulle fabric, scissors, garter or ribbon, watch and follow this No Sew Tutu tutorial and voila!

Toddler toys, old school is fun!

October 5, 2012 7 Comments

When we’re still kids, there are no Ipads, Iphones, Ipods, smartphones, Xbox, Wii, PSPs, Leapfrogs, and laptops and other gadgets for kids. Yet, we took pleasures in simple things like dolls for girls and yellow toy trucks for boys. Our parents must have been happy then, toys weren’t as expensive as today, quite a relief, =).

Sometimes (sometimes lang ha), I find it as a blessing to have a frugal husband because Jeff will be my kunsensya that will just appear whenever I’m gonna buy an expensive-considered-as-luxury item for the little girl. Our disagreement whether to buy or not to buy mostly came in buying children’s toys. In this case, frugality and practicality wins.

So let me share to you some fun and educational toys for the kids, the old school style:

DIY Halloween Costumes for Kids

September 30, 2012 15 Comments

I’m excited for this year’s trick or treat. We’re going to do it again in Boracay! Celebrating Halloween in Boracay is so fun, everybody in the island is in their Halloween spirits. During the day, kids will have their trick or treat at 3 pm, and then at night, it’s a Halloween party for adults.

Last year, I was not creative in Gwen’s costume, hindi ko naman alam na kinakarir pala ng mga taga-Boracay ang Best in Costume award dun. Kaya this year, we will be back more prepared, hehe…

I saw the ones sold at Toy Kingdom and I didn’t find something I like. For girls, it’s either a fairy or princess or witch costume lang.

So Pinterest to the rescue, I hope I’ll have the time and creativity to make one of these DIY Halloween costumes.

On smelly feet and Saltwater Sandals

September 16, 2012 23 Comments

Does your toddler has smelly feet? It’s embarrassing and funny at the same time to find out that the little girl has stinky feet. Funny because a small feet like hers can smell that stinky, hahaha, mas mabaho pa sa paa ng matanda. We guessed the culprit is her Nike City Sandals because of its material. Aside from that, it’s normal for toddlers to have smelly feet because they are active. I just asked yaya Gladys to wash her sandals after every use so that it won’t harbor more bacteria.

Meanwhile, I’m raving about Saltwater Sandals because her feet has no smell whenever she uses this.

On kids toys, save or splurge?

September 2, 2012 20 Comments

When in comes to our kids, we tend to spoil them a lot. In my case, when I see something nice in the mall for Gwen, I don’t care if it’s a bit pricey as long as it’s nice. I wanted to give her the best of everything. Yung tipong, si Gwen, nakakapagsuot ng mga tig-thousand pesoses na mga damit at shoes, but when it comes with my things, when I see something nice in the mall, minsan I’ll put it off and I’ll wait for my next Divi day kasi dun na lang ako bibili nung sa akin. Is it the same for you mommies?

Anyway, on our recent trip to Toys R Us, I bought her a fruits play set, cute because it has a velcro so that you can really pretend to slice it in half. Gwen’s lola bought her a kitchen play set so it’s a nice addition to the set.
