Top 3 things to consider getting a travel insurance

October 21, 2018 2 Comments

You waited for that seat sale at the strike of midnight, read a lot of travel blogs, revised your itinerary a dozen times, made a checklist on what to bring and what to do, and finally, the day has come for your vacation! When my family goes on vacation, we go all out. We allot our limited budget to try the local cuisine, visit the tourist and non-touristy attractions, and go on unique adventures and experiences just like hiking in Hong Kong.

Your Essential Travel App for a Budget-friendly Family Vacation

June 30, 2017 19 Comments

When you’ve been hit by the travel bug, you can’t stop it, you will want to fly and wander somewhere. Once a year, twice a year, monthly… it doesn’t matter. If you’re a wanderlust when you’re still single, are you gonna stop traveling once you have a family with kids in tow? I bet the answer is a big fat NO, just like our case.

Before Gwen reached 2 years old, we maximized her free flights because children under 2 can sit on the lap. After that, children 2 years old and above pays the same rate as adults. I admit that our travels became less frequent now that we’re paying 3 full rates, sometimes 4 if we bring the yaya. Budget in airfare is a major factor in our trips. Promo fares have been scarce lately and you need to have a lot of patience when you see one, because website crashes after a few clicks, etc.

Top 5 Family- and Budget-friendly Hotels in Tagaytay

May 19, 2017 13 Comments

When looking for a quick get-away for the weekend, one place that usually comes to mind is Tagaytay. It’s got everything you want – lots of food choices, fun and adventure for the old and young, nature (hello Taal!) and most of all, cool weather – a welcome break from the exhausting heat of Manila. Well aside from the food and adventure, one thing I look forward to during any trips is the hotel. I’m an OC when it comes to where we’ll be spending our stay – if the hotel has nice and comfortable beds, clean comfort rooms, working water heater and other hotel facilities to make our stay more enjoyable. Aside from being family-friendly, the hotel must be budget-friendly too. That’s why when booking for our accommodations, I make sure that the place is well reviewed by other people who’ve been there – and thank goodness, there’s Traveloka App for that.

Traveloka App is the one-stop travel booking app for cheap hotel needs. And to make everything easier for moms like us, we can use the Traveloka App to book our preferred hotel directly. There are different payment options available – thru credit card; bank payments; non-bank outlets such as bayad center, LBC branches, Cebuana Lhuiller and M. Lhuillier branches, SM payment counters and Robinsons Department stores; thru coins.ph; and Bancnet internet payment services. Should you need to ask something, Traveloka has 24/7 local speaking customer service readily available anytime. They also have promos which you can check out anytime in their website, to make your Tagaytay staycation affordable.

We went to Sky Ranch Tagaytay December 2015 last year. Ako na talaga ang best in late post haha! We went on a beach camping (check out this guide: https://www.globosurfer.com/beach-camping-essential-guide/) trip in Burot Beach, Calatagan, Batangas and stayed in Tagaytay for a night before we head to Manila. We spent the night in Elegant Star Apartelle and the next morning after check out, we headed to Sky Ranch Tagaytay to grant the little girl’s wish.

10 Budget Travel Tips for Moms, by a Wander Mom

August 15, 2016 17 Comments

“Traveling with a baby is possible.” This is my blog’s description and this is my main reason why I’ve put up this blog, to document my family’s travels. Jeff and I traveled a lot when we’re not yet married and even after Gwen was born, that didn’t stop us from going to places. In fact, we strive harder to travel with Gwen in tow because we want to show her the world, or some piece of it. After all, experience is the best teacher and that we try to collect moments, not things.

Ernest Hemingway once said, “Never go on trips with anyone you do not love.” That’s why we do this traveling-with-kids lifestyle. Traveling with the whole family can be tricky and challenging when it comes to our budget. Some friends would think that we’re earning a lot hence we can afford to go on a vacation once in a while but the truth is, we’re just middle-class employees living paycheck to paycheck.

10 budget travel tips for moms

So how can we afford to travel? It’s just a matter of careful planning, setting your priorities, and researching for cheap flights and hotels with the help of some sites like Traveloka.

Here are my 10 Budget Travel Tips for Moms, by a Wander Mom (that’s me!)

Grapes picking in Bauang, La Union

June 7, 2016 3 Comments

Last weekend was our company outing in Thunderbird Resort at Poro Point. En route to the resort, we first took a side trip in Bauang, La Union to visit the Gapuz Grapes Farm. O di ba, if Baguio has strawberry farms, La Union has grape farms naman. I honestly don’t know that grapes grow here in the Philippines, but after visiting Bauang, La Union, I saw several farms aside from Gapuz.
