Our lovely staycation at F1 Hotel

May 8, 2013 2 Comments

We had a pre-Mother’s Day celebration last weekend. It was an awesome weekend spent in a posh hotel in Taguig, F1 Hotel. I got invited for a preview on what’s in store for moms this Mother’s Day by staying overnight at the hotel. We arrived at the hotel after lunch because Gwen had a mini-graduation from her summer class that morning. So this hotel stay is a sort-of-celebration for her too.

We stayed at their Fort Suite, the room is huge for the three of us. It can fit 4 adults because the sofa can be turned into a sofa bed. But who cares about huge room, a HUGE bed is more important, di ba Gwen?

this is life!

Iloilo-Guimaras 2013: Part 1

February 13, 2013 20 Comments

First trip of the year is Iloilo with a side trip to Guimaras, January 18-21, 2013. Our friends in the office are always on the look-out for promo fares, so when Tiger Airways had a sale last July 2012, we immediately booked tickets to Iloilo to watch the Dinagyang Festival. 8 adults and 2 kids, we’re so excited because may kalaro si Gwen during the trip.

Dinagyang Festival, yup, that’s the main reason why we booked on those dates, kaya lang nagkamali kami ng bilang, the following week pa pala yung Dinagyang, kamusta naman? So we included Guimaras in our itinerary since there’s not much to see and do in Iloilo.

We had an early morning flight…

We spent 8 days in HK last November, and after that epic Dragon’s Back hike, we went to everyone’s playground. Disneyland! It’s Christmas season so Disneyland was decked with decors, feel na feel ang Christmas.

Gwen’s first hike: Dragon’s Back, HK

December 9, 2012 6 Comments

The 3rd week of November is my mountaineer’s birthday. After my birthday celebration in Boracay, we headed to another favorite place, Hong Kong. And since birthdays are all about celebrations and making wishes come true, I gave in to Jeff’s prodding ever since Gwen’s was born to take her to the mountains. That’s my outdoors man, it’s all about adventures.

I’m pretty confident about this hike because we hiked the Dragon’s Back on our last visit, so I know that the trail is very safe and in fact, a family-friendly one. We took the shorter route this time because we expected that being with Gwen will slow us down with a lot of stops. She will also be carried (by Jeff) most of the time so that’s additional weight too.

Okay, are you ready for a hike?

The family that hikes together, stays together =)

Trick or Treat in Boracay 2012

November 12, 2012 3 Comments

Because trick or treat is more fun in Boracay, we flew again this year for the halloween celebration and for my birthday. Our first day in the island was October 30, we checked in at the hotel around noon and rested a bit. At around 3 pm, we decided to head to D’Mall for a late lunch and to inquire about halloween activities for the kids. When we passed by Bombom bar, we saw the kids in costumes lining up and walking towards the shops. Uh oh! It turns out that the trick or treat was scheduled that day and not on the 31st. Not wasting time, Jeff rushed back to the hotel and grabbed Gwen’s Indian costume. The kids were almost finished collecting candies at the shops but at least we got to catch up even for a few minutes.

I must say, ibang level talaga ang mga costumes dito! Maybe because they don’t have an SM here where they can buy ready made costumes that’s why their creativity is maximized.

Hiking with a baby

February 13, 2012 3 Comments

For months now, Jeff has been bugging me to take Gwen with us when hiking. It’s just for a day hike but I’m still hesitant about it. He showed me websites and blogs of families going hiking and yes, it’s possible to take babies out in the woods. But all those sites are from the US and Europe and I haven’t encountered a Filipino family doing such (baka kami una??)
