In the Kitchen: Chicken Salsa Melt

April 28, 2014 13 Comments

In the Kitchen will be the category where I will post some of the recipes I cook for my family. I promise you these are super-duper easy recipes because I’m really not an expert in the kitchen plus the fact that I don’t want recipes with so many steps/how-tos. Just 4-6 instructions, anything more than that, I skip the page of my recipe book and look for simpler recipes. So newbies in the kitchen, I hope you’ll try my recipes or suggestions and let’s share kitchen secrets!

3 Key Ingredients! This super simple recipe can be cooked in under 30 minutes. The use of bottled salsa is really a lifehack, it’s already seasoned so no more guessing on how it should turn out. You can thank me later :p

If I can’t think of something to cook or we got tired of eating meat, I always cook Ginisang Repolyo. It’s the easiest (and cheapest too!) vegetable recipe that one can cook. You may throw in  whatever meat you like, I use ground pork or beef or bits of chicken breast, whatever’s available in the freezer.

Aside from ramen and sushi, Beef Misono and Gyudon are the other Japanese dishes we love. Few weeks ago, I tried cooking Beef Misono ala Tokyo Tokyo, complete with stir-fried vegetables. Jeff loves vegetables, he likes togue/bean sprouts a lot and he likes his veggies crunchy.

I’ve been making Dynamite Cheese Sticks for 3 years now (click the link for the original recipe). This one has a twist because I added Corned Tuna to my original Dynamite Sticks recipe. Some restaurants serve their version with ground beef, or ham. Corned Tuna is an affordable and healthier alternative to my Dynamite Cheese Sticks.

It’s been a while since I posted a recipe. I always cook on weekends but always forgot to take a photo for me to blog, hihi. Anyway, this Spicy Tuna Pasta is perfect since this Lenten season so that you’ll have something to cook for Meatless Fridays.

This is Jeff’s favorite, and also my favorite too because this is so easy (and fast) to make!

Tikoy recipes you should try

February 10, 2013 16 Comments

Happy Chinese New Year! You know what I’m looking forward to every Chinese New Year? It’s time for tikoy (or nan giao) once again. I love the sweet and chewy combination. Sometimes, though, I get sawa because it’s oily, sliced-tikoy-dipped-in-egg-then-fried, that’s the way tikoy is cooked until Nanay and I discovered more tikoy recipes.
