Oh my breech!

October 9, 2010 Leave a Comment

Just had my BPS (Biophysical Profile Scoring) earlier. Full results will be released on Monday but the sonologist was ma-chika and she confirmed by baby’s gender, it’s definitely a GIRL! Now, I can buy really girly clothes!

It’s so amazing how my baby reacts whenever I had my ultrasound, for the three times that I underwent the procedure, she’s always awake. Earlier, she was sleeping at first but maybe she knew she will be viewed on screen, she let out a kick!

At 28 weeks though, the sonologist said the baby is in breech position… Not so good news because I wanted a normal delivery. But 7 months is too early and I’m hoping the baby will rotate and become cephalic.

Snippets

Time flies so fast! My friend, Jehan, who is also on the family way posted on my Facebook wall that it’s 12 weeks to go before I give birth, more or less. I suddenly panicked because we still have no baby preparations yet… I have a couple of newborn clothes bought already but I haven’t washed them. Relatives promised their hand-me-downs such as cribs, strollers, clothes, etc… but I’m not sure how many are those and their condition. I am seriously in a panic mode…

Some snippets:

  • As I’ve mentioned before, I already had gender determination and OGCT (Oral Glucose Challenge Test). I passed the OGCT and, IT’S A GIRL! Well, Jeff’s still in denial and he’s still hoping that it will be a boy once we’ll have our 4D.
  • My monthly check-up will become a 2-week interval. I feel okay with this so that the doctor can monitor the baby frequently.
  • Baby’s kicks and movements are starting to become stronger and stronger each day, there are times that it woke me up in the wee hours of the morning, the result, grumpy and sleepless mommy during the day.
  • My OB advised me to have Biophysical Profile Scoring and urinalysis. I don’t have a problem when nature calls, in fact I frequent the comfort room but doctor said it’s just a precautionary measure.
  • And speaking of 4D, I’m confused on where to have it done, In My Womb or Face to Face, both in SM The Block.

These are some thoughts running on my mind, God is good with me throughout my pregnancy. I hope that I will survive labor in a breeze, go normal!

Now, back to baby bottle research and other baby stuff, parents can’t seem to skimp when it comes to baby stuff, right?

22 weeks: The big reveal

August 31, 2010 3 Comments

On Thursday will be the big reveal, we will know the baby’s gender. We’re still keeping our hopes up for a baby boy but honestly, any gender is perfect as long as the baby’s healthy. I’m trying to brush off all my worries since along with determining baby’s gender, the OB will also do congenital anomaly scan (CAS) and OGCT (Oral Glucose Challenge Test). It’s really ironic that just when I’m about to have my OGCT this week, I’ve been craving for sweets the past 2 weeks. I’ve been munching on chocolates since last week, I only stopped myself from buying Conti’s Leche Flan last Friday. Once the OGCT is done with positive results and baby’s gender is out, I’m gonna celebrate it with a cake!

Please pray for me and my baby…

Beauty products safe for pregnant women

August 22, 2010 2 Comments

For some women, beauty can’t be compromised even when they are pregnant. I know a lot of women still use the same beauty products during pre-pregnancy, some say it won’t affect the baby because minimal amount can cross the skin’s barrier unless you drink or eat those contents on beauty products, lol!

Mommy’s checklist

August 1, 2010 4 Comments

Mommy’s checklist, or an expectant mother’s checklist, I didn’t know that this thing exists until I read this from parenting sites. Until now, the checklists that exist in my life is a travel checklist and a grocery checklist. Who knows what checklist may sprout once the baby is born. Reading parenting sites and learning from other experiences of fellow mommies is a therapeutic way for me to ease out my fear of taking care of my baby. And to start off my journey to motherhood, a Mommy’s checklist is needed.

18 weeks and I haven’t started buying stuff for the baby, though I already set my mind that I will only provide the best things for my baby such as BPA-free bottles, baby-friendly toys and clothes, etc… Together with providing the best, I also want to be practical on buying baby stuff especially clothes since I know that babies grow rapidly and buying expensive clothings is not reasonable for the baby can only wear it for a short time. Perhaps, another reason why we still can’t shop for baby things is because we still don’t know the baby’s gender yet, I’m really really excited at the same time still hoping for a boy.

Last week, we decided to have a preview on baby things to buy by visiting SM’s Infant section. I frowned at how they jacked up the prices of Avent and Playtex brands here, almost 50% compared to their prices in Amazon, *sigh* I asked if they have a mommy checklist and they provided me with a list, the list below is exactly the one handed to me. You can print it or just copy the things you need:

Mommy checklist

This may seem a lot, I, too, was overwhelmed but I’ll be coming up with my own checklist in the coming days. Other mommy checklist I found is in the Enfant website and here.

Mommies, please share the things to buy for a first-time mom. Your inputs are greatly appreciated.

Back from hiatus

July 25, 2010 Leave a Comment

Hello there! I’m still preggy, hehe… I didn’t know that this pregnancy will really heighten up my already lazy self. And to make things worse, it seems that my preggy self is a magnet for all kinds of diseases. You see, when I was not pregnant, I’m healthy as can be and my body is always in tip-top shape. A few sneeze here and there but a pop of vitamin C and a good night’s sleep can make me feel better the next morning.

Now, though being pregnant is such a big big blessing, it’s as if I’m perennially plagued with cough and colds. Aside from that, I had episodes of diarrhea for four days right after we went to Boracay. It must have been the water there, or the ice cubes used in the drinks. During our Cebu trip, I had fever during our stay because of the uber cold air conditioning at Roseate Pension House. A visit to my OB required me to take a number of medicines including antibiotics…. *sigh*

But yeah, whatever it takes, as long as the baby is healthy I’m great! All these sufferings are for a greater cause, right?
