Pregnancy rhinitis

May 23, 2010 1 Comment

I can tell that I have an easy pregnancy… no severe cases of nausea and vomitting for me. But one thing I noticed since the start of my pregnancy is my colds. On the first few weeks, I thought I just caught a virus because I stopped taking vitamin C. But it’s been 8 weeks and I still have colds. Constant sneezing and clogged nose especially at night makes me uncomfortable. I consulted my OB about this and she suspects allergic rhinitis. I find it odd because I’ve never had allergies to dust, weather, etc… before.

That’s when I discovered that there is such a thing as pregnancy rhinitis. I may not have allergies before but because I’m pregnant, this triggered the problem. My OB already gave me a go signal to take 500 mg. of vitamin C. She also prescribed Loratadine and nasal spray but I’m skeptical about Loratadine and other antihistamine drugs on its effects during pregnancy. One site says it’s a category B drug which means it’s not the safest drug to take during pregnancy as there are no sufficient tests done. However, this table from BabyCenter considers it as low-risk along with Vicks Vaporub. Yes, I use Vicks at night for my clogged nose, this helped me have a good night’s sleep with pillows propped up.

Mirror, mirror on the wall…

May 18, 2010 2 Comments

I’m not totally vain, I embraced my imperfect body before I got pregnant with all its extra curves and bulges here and there. But now that my eating habits went berserk, my waistline and hip area seems to be wider. I know that’s inevitable but I’m only on my 7th week and I think I could pass up as 3 months pregnant because of my tummy. I know it’s not the baby in there but food, hahaha!

An officemate earlier pointed out that my face looks different now, I don’t know exactly the change but I know I’ll surely look different. For one, I became darker after having a vacation in Baler, Aurora. I now have a pimple or two somewhere in the T-zone area because I stopped using a derma set which I bought from a friend and has been my holy grail for 3 years. So my beauty regimen now only consists of organic soap, toner from Etude House and an organic night moisturizer from Human Heart Nature. Haven’t done much research for beauty products for pregnant women yet…

Some say that you can tell by the looks of the pregnant mommy if she’s going to have a baby boy or a baby girl. It’s too early to tell right now. Jeff says he likes my appearance now, but I reckon he’s saying that just to make me feel good. My photos shows that my face is becoming more round than usual…

Care to share your beauty regimen during pregnancy? Did your appearance changed when your pregnant?

Pregnancy musings

May 13, 2010 9 Comments

According to BabyCenter, I’m on my 6th week. Next week will be my second visit to the OB. I did a little research about her on some parenting forums and looks like she’s okay. She’s affiliated with Chinese General Hospital, based from the reviews, hospital rates there are pretty reasonable. If money and location is not a problem, I would have chosen The Medical City but hospital rates shoot up to a hundred thousand and it’s too far from Caloocan.

6 weeks

Anxiety of giving birth still crosses my mind from time to time, but I calm myself that I will get through this pregnancy day by day. I’m so lucky that I seldom experience “morning sickness”. I had bouts of nausea from time to time and dizziness whenever I’m hungry. I got to vomit once but I think my hyperacidity is the culprit. As for food cravings, I have none… this is really surprising because I have a voracious appetite! When I wasn’t expecting, I already planned what to eat for merienda right after we had brunch, but now, I find it hard to think about food to eat. I just eat because I have to, not because I want that food. I easily get tired, I know I have to take naps but I’m not used to sleeping in the office. So my nap time is around 6 pm to  9 pm after we reach home.

Perhaps the most struggle I’m experiencing so far is drinking a glass of Anmum. I’m not a milk drinker, and I hardly consume hot drinks, whenever I have coffee, it’s always a frappucino or iced. Every night, I’m downing my choco-flavored Anmum by spoonfuls, and right after I consume a glassful, I gag. But I have to do it, everything for a healthy baby =).

Life’s surprises

May 6, 2010 7 Comments

Hello there! I totally forgot about this blog but here I am now, more inspired to write about something personal.  From my first post, I initially intended this blog to be a witness to our married life, as Misis B, the wife, and J, the husband, no kids yet.

But life’s surprises caught me off guard, it came when I least expect it and presented itself as two blue lines in a white Ipod-shuffle-like stick.

life’s surprises

Sure, we’ve been married for 3 years and people were bugging us since day one of marriage about a baby, but we’re completely enjoying our time together as married couples travelling, going to work everyday, saving up for the future, etc… We’d always say “next year“, and God must have been impatient too with us that’s why He gave this BIG blessing, it’s about time.

Seeing a positive made me happy and anxious at the same time. As early as now, I’m thinking about my labor and if I’m going to have a normal delivery. Aside from that, I don’t really like paying a visit to any doctor, moreso, going to a hospital, I feel like getting more sick when I visit one. But pregnancy makes a visit to the doctor compulsory.

So we just paid the OB a visit yesterday, right after we went to Baler for the weekend, (yes, the baby’s a wanderlust) and I was scheduled to come back with my ultrasound result after 2 weeks. The OB prescribed pre-natal vitamins and Anmum.

J and I wanted a baby boy, a healthy baby boy. He wanted to take our future son to his outdoor activities and even wished if he can fast-forward the days so that our baby boy will be an instant toddler that he can take everywhere. I’m wishing for that too, so that I can skip labor, =)

By now, you should have realized that this new blog will be more about my pregnancy blog from now on. I have to go now coz I have a morning sickness to deal with tomorrow.
