Discover products for your home with the Taiwan Excellence seal

November 13, 2014 39 Comments

In my family, when shopping for household items like kitchen appliances, I have the upper hand on what to buy. But when it comes to other appliances like TV and gadgets, Jeff knows best. I have to trust him for his techie recommendations. Both of us agree that one important thing to consider is the brand. Honestly, if the brand is popular, I don’t read much the reviews online. Brand-conscious, yes, but this is only because we are spending our hard-earned money, we saved up for it, that’s why we deserve to have something with the best quality.

Have you considered buying Taiwanese brands for your home? Do you use Acer, Asus, HTC, Tatung, or BenQ? Well, these are Taiwanese brands and they all carry the Taiwan Excellence seal.

The Taiwan government launched the Taiwan Excellence campaign in the Philippines to help Filipinos distinguish the best Taiwan-made products. It is through this campaign that Taiwan can promote top quality Taiwanese brands and products among Filipinos.

Taiwan Excellence is a campaign that recognizes high-quality Taiwanese brands, guaranteeing their superior quality and value. To qualify for these awards, the products go through a rigorous screening process to ensure that they are of the highest standard and can proudly represent the unique and innovative culture of Taiwan.

The Taiwan Excellence Seal

All Taiwan based brands are eligible to be part of the campaign.  Product categories include consumer and business IT, fashion, arts and culture, sports, education, transportation, and others.

Each product is scored based on its R&D, design, quality, and marketing by an international panel of judges. Each product must score evenly in all four categories. After careful evaluation, those selected are allowed to carry the Taiwan Excellence Seal.

From among the selected products, the judges choose those who deserve the Silver and Gold Award recognition.  They will select thirty from the original winners, with only ten to be given the Gold Award, the highest recognition under the campaign, while the remaining finalists will be given the Silver Award.

I’m actually quite surprised on the variety of Taiwanese brands in the market that are not just electronics. If you visit www.taiwanexcellence.ph, there are products for Transportation & Leisure (bicycles, etc.), Home & Living, and Living Applicance & Health Care.

Thanks to this campaign, more Filipino families can make educated, value for money purchases. It is Christmas season after all, we can add these products with Taiwan Excellence seal on our list.

I’ve never really had to think about buying new appliances until this past summer when my fridge went out. Then I discovered that since I have stainless steel appliances, I always have to use the same manufacturer or my appliances won’t match- what a pain!

I live in the States, so this seal doesn’t really apply to me. However, I wish we had something like that over hear. I love the idea of being able to look for products that have a seal of approval.

I wonder how they choose things for their list. I guess this is like “energy star” certified products in the US that use less energy for dishwashers etc. I like knowing things I buy come with a certain level of safety, knowing they are “good.”
