Do you use technology for social good? Join the Globe Future Makers 2019

March 15, 2019 3 Comments

Globe Telecom launches its Globe Future Makers 2019 for startups and social enterprises that have developed innovative technology to solve the country’s social issues. If you and your group believes that technology can change the world and have social impact, submit your entries to this year’s Globe Future Makers 2019 Program.

The Globe Future Makers program aims to help build the ecosystem of support for social innovators who are using technology to solve the Philippines' most challenging social problems. It's open to startups who are committed to achieving widescale positive social impact and believe in the power of technology to change the world.

What is Globe Future Makers?

Future Makers is the Social Innovation Program of the Singtel Group of Companies within the Asia Pacific Region. Launched in 2016 in Singapore and Australia, this program seeks to recognize the most innovative technology solutions focused on solving social issues in Singapore, Australia, Philippines, and the region.

What are the benefits after being chosen as Future Makers?

After going through a rigorous selection process, 5 start-ups will be selected and will be provided with follow-up support network to grow and scale their social impact.

As part of the Globe Future Makers, they will receive technology support worth Php 200,000 on a need and business relevance basis; critical non-monetary support such as industry insights, individual mentoring, and coaching; networking opportunities; and potential collaboration with the Singtel Group and its partner organizations.

To give you an idea, here are last year’s Top 5 Finalists. Napabilib ako thinking that “oh, it’s just an app or a website, so what?”, but to others, it’s a huge help that can change their lives.

globe future makers top 5 finalists
  1. iVolunteer – iVolunteer provides a platform to recruit, engage, and manage volunteers for NGOs in the Philippines.
  2. TULA – TULA is an after-school learning center chain that teaches its learners math concepts and guides them step-by-step in solving problems. It also helps children develop and hone the ideal character traits and attitudes for success in school and beyond.
  3. Virtualahan – Virtualahan is a platform designed for people with medical condition and disabilities who experience employment discrimination. It provides training for online work or as remote employees for digital start-ups around the world.
  4. The Spark Project – The Spark Project is a Filipino-based crowdfunding website and community for local entrepreneurs, changemakers, and doers. It showcases projects to like-minded people who are willing to pitch in money for something compelling and worthwhile.
  5. MilkTrack – Milktrack is a platform that aims to provide premature or sick babies with breastmilk that can be sourced and delivered.

As a mom, syempre the best platform for me if I was the judge is yung MilkTrack, instead of posting in FB asking for breastmilk donations, you can just use the platform to look for breastmilk.

Hmmmm… right now, some ideas running through my mind is maybe an app like a Soup Kitchen where users can post that they are having a feeding program in this location and anyone can join. Parang carpool pero eto naman feeding program :).

Last day of submission of entries is on April 12, 2019. For more information and program mechanics, visit https://www.globe.com.ph/future-makers.
