In the Kitchen: Easy Overnight Oats Recipe

March 2, 2020 5 Comments

In the Kitchen will be the category where I will post some of the recipes I cook for my family. I promise you these are super-duper easy recipes because I’m really not an expert in the kitchen plus the fact that I don’t want recipes with so many steps/how-tos. Just 4-6 instructions, anything more than that, I skip the page of my recipe book and look for simpler recipes. So newbies in the kitchen, I hope you’ll try my recipes or suggestions and let’s share kitchen secrets!

I’m sharing one really life-changing tip to make your life in the morning less chaotic. For breakfast, serve overnight oats! Why not, it’s delicious, easy to prepare, and healthy too.

When I don’t feel like waking up extra early in the morning to prepare Gwen’s breakfast, she just eats this. She likes her overnight oats plain with no toppings, sometimes we put peanut butter and banana for some flavor.

Easy Overnight Oats Recipe

Ingredients

1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup milk (I use low-fat milk but you can also use fresh milk or soy milk)
small cup of Greek yogurt
1 tablespoon Chia seeds
a sprinkle of salt

If you want to make a bigger batch of overnight oats, just follow the 1:1 ratio of oats and milk, 1 cup oats = 1 cup milk.

Optional: You can also add condensed milk or honey or sugar if you want it sweeter.

Toppings Suggestions:

  • dried fruits + nuts
  • strawberries + nuts + condensed milk
  • mango + nuts + condensed milk
  • bananas + peanut butter

Instructions

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a jar. Mix well.
  2. Cover and put in the refrigerator overnight.
  3. Top with your choice of toppings in the morning.
