How to prevent dengue: Mga paraan para hindi makagat ng lamok

September 25, 2018 Leave a Comment

There has been a significant rise in Dengue fever cases as of late. ABS-CBN also reported that several doctors in Philippine Children’s Medical Center contracted severe dengue. Having dengue fever is no joke, and I don’t want to risk my family’s health that’s why we always take precautionary measures like using mosquito repellant sprays and anti-mosquito patches. But since mas nakakapraning na ang mga lamok ngayon, I think I need to add more anti-mosquito weapons.

How to prevent dengue?

Dengue fever is an infectious tropical disease transmitted by the female Aedes aegypti mosquito, it tends to bite during the day. To prevent dengue, you must protect yourselves from mosquitoes.

  1. Use mosquito repellent sprays. We are currently using Tiger Balm Mosquito Repellent Spray pero okay din naman yung GIGA, Messy Bessy, and Human Nature. We rotate the sprays we are using, minsan kasi parang na-iimmune din sa amoy yung mga lamok.

  2. Use anti-mosquito patches. Medyo magastos lang sya but for my peace of mind, I put an anti-mosquito patch in Gwen’s uniform whenever she goes to school. Mosquitoes are everywhere, in school or even in their school service.

  3. Use anti-mosquito racket. I like using this at home, parang stress-reliever ko na rin. I get a certain high whenever I see a dead mosquito in the racket.

  4. Use an anti-mosquito lamp. I am not awake 24/7 to use the racket that’s why an anti-mosquito lamp is useful especially at night.

  5. Use mosquito/insect killer sprays. I spray once in a while to completely eliminate mosquitoes as well as insects. This is best to do whenever your family will be out of the house, so pwedeng pag aalis kayo to the mall. Choose an odorless spray para hindi masakit sa ilong, I am using this Pest Off Complete Insect Killer Odorless Spray which was sent to me a few months ago.

  6. Let your kids wear long sleeves at pants. The more they are covered, less chances of mosquito bites.

  7. Have anti-mosquito plants in your garden. There are plants that mosquitoes hate such as citronella, lemongrass, and lavender.

  8. Clean your surroundings. Stagnant water are breeding grounds of mosquitoes. Get rid of old tires, pots, pails, and other unused containers that will just collect water. TIP: Also check your alulod, it can collect water and eventually can be a breeding ground for dengue-carrying mosquitoes.
