McDonald’s Kiddie Crew Kit Giveaway!

May 5, 2014 23 Comments

I told you I’m having another McDonald’s Kiddie Crew Kits giveaway courtesy of our friends from McDonald’s! Honestly, I really can’t wait for Gwen to turn 6 years old so that she can join this summer activity. It’s a unique and very enlightening experience for your child, aside from the usual summer activities like swimming.

Back in my childhood days, I spent my summer in my cousin’s house. They were 4 siblings and there’s a riot when we’re together. My older cousin had a mini-store and she sold mangoes with bagoong, gulaman, banana-que and other merienda just so they can save up for a brick game (Yes! Brick game pa uso non haha!)

My parents we’re not the outdoors type, Papa is a seaman so he’s out of the country most-of-the-time. That’s why we never go to beach trips when we were children. And this is the reason why my family now travels a lot, deprived kasi ako sa lakwatsa nung bata haha.

Boracay when Gwen was 2 years old

Summer ain’t over and you still have time to enroll your kids to McDonald’s Kiddie Crew Summer Workshop, registration period is until May 25, 2014.

Now on its 22nd year, McDonald’s is bringing kids together once again for an enjoyable summer workshop.  Thousands of Kiddie Crew Workshop participants all over the country have already enjoyed helping out the crew by greeting customers and serving them over the counter or via drive-thru, workshop activities-such as Jazz-up-your-own-hat and make your own Cheeseburger like a chef! More than the awesome activities Kiddie Crew participants will get to do, there will also be value formation sessions that will focus on the importance of sharing.

My best summer experience was when we ride on a boat, I was just 12 and my kuya 14 we own the boat, it was so exciting to ride in it while the wind was just wrapping around me, just like protecting me from heat of the sun. Can’t help but smile whenever I remember those days, no problems , no worries, just summer.

The best for me is when we visited our grandmother and grandfather’s house, theirs was located on a very remote province,a typical province , rocky road and neighbors houses are too far from each other, but the serenity of the place really makes our vacation a memorable one. My lolo prepared 3 days before his “bangon” a bamboo made cage to catch shrimps and small crabs or crablets, they made a small nipa hut beside a clean river,we ate lunch their, simple lunch prepared by my mom, grilled fresh st.peter’s fish, shrimp sinigang and some crablets of course from my lolo’s “bangon” we really had a great time, until we decided to go home, but with us our ripe mangoes, star apple and cashew we just picked from those trees beside the river. I really love the simple life there.

My best summer experience is playing summer games among childhood friends, taguan, moro-moro, patintero, ALL DAY LONG! I also remember picking aritilis. maybe the young generation is not familiar with aratilis since it is rarely seen in the urban areas nowadays.

When I was 6 I was stuck at my Lola Nene’s house for the summer with no TV and a bad case of of chicken pox,I love my Lola but I was bored to tears, that is until my parents came to visit me with a large box filled with The Young Children’s Encyclopedia. I spent that entire summer reading and developed a deep love for this pastime that I still have up to now.

My fondest memories is when we go on vacation with my lolo and loa in the province. We stayed there for a month, experiencing farm life and wadding in the nearby river. We experienced gathering crops that we may bring when we go back to the city.

Share your favorite childhood summer experience.
Since we used to live in Manila, I always anticipate the summer vacation in Cavite. We would go to my aunt’s place where she had a wide backyard with many fruit trees. It was there that I was able to climb my first tree and had my first picnic under a mango tree. I still remember eating fruits right after picking them from the trees. Those summers many many years ago still linger in my mind as they were full of fun. My cousins and I ran and played to our hearts content. The air was so fresh that we didn’t need electric fans.

My favorite childhood summer experience was staying in my mon’s province at Catarman Northern Samar. I enjoyed bonding with my cousins and childhood friends. I got the chance to help in my aunt’s sari-sari store as a tindera at a young age. It was fun and worth remembering.

I remember going to Quezon for our Summer Vacation when I was 8 (I guess) with my Grandma. And that is where I left my favorite shirt. I only realized it when we are back in Manila.
