Ages ago, Mother’s Day doesn’t excite me, ooops, sorry Nanay. But when I became a mom, I got excited that I’m going to have a special day dedicated for me. And it’s fun to celebrate occasions with Jeff and now with Gwen. This Christmas, I’m doubly excited because 3 days before Christmas, it’ll be Gwen’s first birthday! I won’t mind if I don’t receive christmas gifts for mom, Gwen will be the star this year…
Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs 2011 from The Misis Chronicles
I joined this writing project 2 or 3 years ago. Fortunately, most of my nominations got in as “influential”. Back then, I can easily choose as the blogging community is not as big compared today. Now, there are a plethora of blogs catering to different niche, travel, parenting, food, etc… But there are still some that stand out, hence, influential.
I am nominating these 10 blogs as Emerging Influential Blogs for 2011.
- Certified Foodies – I love food, hence I also love reading about food. And I also write food and restaurant reviews at my other blog. Ken and Mhel’s food blog will make food and non-food lovers crave for something satisfying to the tastebuds. I have yet to try Ken’s famous buffalo wings recipe though. :p
- My Painted Lips – Women empowerment! Being a stay-at-home mom doesn’t mean you have to be a frumpy and dull looking momma. Peh’s blog offers some simple beauty tips for mommies without hindering our household chores, even if it’s just a simple lipstick.
- Green Living Ideas – This blog is very important and timely to create awareness among all of us. While blogs are sprouting everywhere with food, fashion and travel themes, this blog chose the green way to help Mother Earth….
Aprica high chair
After dreaming about those modern high chairs, I finally decided to just buy an affordable one for Gwen. I bought an Aprica high chair 2 months ago. Aprica? affordable? YES. Because it’s second-hand, it came from a Japan surplus shop.
The Aprica high chair from the Japan’s Best (Japan surplus shop in Araneta Square in Monumento) is only Php 1,800. It’s perfectly working and still complete with accessories like the table.

Baby food recipe: Squash Malunggay puree
It’s been a while since I posted what Gwen has been eating. Well, we still continue to make her own baby food during weekends, and Nanay also cooks lugaw or porridge for her almost everyday.
Another recipe we tried for her is Squash Malunggay puree:

Is e-cigarette really safe?
Electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes might be heaven-sent for those who want to quit smoking. Because it’s like giving them the satisfaction of smoking without the harmful side effects. Did you know that smoking is now allowed in malls? Well, that’s if you’re using an e cigarette. I also got surprised when I saw someone “smoking” and found that he’s holding an e-cigarette.
Now, with the e cigarette becoming popular, I’m just curious if it’s really safe? And what about other people beside the users who inhaled the smokes? Does second-hand smoke also applies with e cigarettes?
Mustela Bebe Dermo-Cleansing Gel for Hair and Body review
Gwen is using Lactacyd Baby Bath since she was born. It was included on the newborn kit from the hospital and she got no allergic reactions to it so we continued using it until her 7th month. I got the chance to try Mustela Bebe Foam Shampoo when we were in Singapore because that’s what our friend’s son was using. I liked the scent so I decided to try Mustela for Gwen too. I bought the Mustela Bebe Dermo-Cleansing Gel for hair and body at their Trinoma store near National Bookstore. It’s quite expensive at Php 610 for a 200 ml. bottle.
