During Holy Week, we just went on a staycation and enjoyed the peaceful Manila. I just went to our parish church for the Way of the Cross on Holy Thursday. In the afternoon, I just cooked dynamite sticks as requested by Jeff, he missed my cooking already. On Good Friday, didn’t have anything to do so we decided to head to my in-laws in Las Pinas. Surprisingly, no traffic at all and it only took us an hour to reach Las Pinas. While my in-laws we’re really happy to see Gwen, the baby was crying non-stop. Maybe because of the noisy environment with all her cousins and relatives around or maybe due to the hot weather because of the absence of dehumidifiers in the house. We can’t bear her crying any longer so we spent the night at the nearby hotel, Eurotel. And just like that, Gwen enjoyed the peacefulness and slept soundly. A high-maintenance spoiled baby…
Pierced
On her last pedia’s visit, Jeff and I decided to have Gwen’s ears pierced. We’ve been putting it off since birth because we’re worried that she’ll cry because of pain and we don’t want her to suffer from swollen ears. What made us decide to have her ears pierced? Well, every time Gwen’s outside outside our house for some fresh air, ALL passersby mistake her for a boy, hehe…
Now, with her ears pierced, she’s definitely a GIRL! About the whole ear holing process, she just cried for a few minutes, mainly because of the “gulat” factor but after that she’s fine. The pedia applied topical anesthesia 30 minutes before the procedure. Ear holing at our pedia is Php 600 including the hypoallergenic earrings.
Pwera Usog
I already complained before about the old-school parenting style that my mother is doing on Gwen. Although I’m still the mommy, I can’t just tell my mother to stop what she’s doing just because I don’t believe in myths and beliefs. Just a sign of respect and I just thought that I was raised that way and I’m fine, so Gwen will be fine.
There’s one afternoon that Gwen cried for hours I was told because we’re still at work. My mother and the yaya were already alarmed, and guess where my mother went first, to our neighbor who is a “magtatawas”. Good thing Gwen already stopped crying by the time they arrived in the house or else, Gwen would have had her first “tawas” initiation. When we arrived home, yaya told me to buy a coral bracelet that babies wear to ward off “usog”. She thought Gwen was “nausog” earlier that day hence the crying incident.
I’m worried that Gwen might choke on those coral beads that’s why i don’t buy until now.

Shopping wisely
When we became parents, we became too excited for all things baby. I would always check out online sites for baby things, when we go to SM, baby section is always my destination. I can’t remember any major purchase for myself for the past 3 months. All shopping money went to the little one. She’s one spoiled princess.
I learned my lesson though, babies grow so fast that clothes you bought last week won’t fit for the next 2 weeks. There are also unnecessary things that we bought out of whim, like this yellow bath tub worth Php 800 but is still unused because Gwen loves the old bath tub of my nephew. I might as well sell some pre-loved clothes as early as now so that we can buy a new addition to our collection of G shock watches. It’s mommy and daddy’s turn to shop, baby!
New furnitures
Who said changing rooms is easy? We already moved to our new family room at the second floor (we weren’t able to sleep in here first because of the smell of paint). This room was previously a maid’s room/guest room, but since it will be too difficult for us to go one floor up because of Gwen, we had this repainted and made the room devoid of the old furnishings like the single bed, chairs, etc… We had an empty slate.
We just laid the two mattresses on the floor, we need two because we’re now sleeping horizontally and we don’t want our feet hanging loosely so we added an additional mattress. Aside from the bed, furnishings include 1 cabinet, a dresser, and a fan. So bare that we can even put one or two cocktail table so that we have extra storage for our laptops. It’s so hard to use the laptop without a stable surface.
But one thing that keeps us from buying new furniture is because we’re not using this room permanently. As much as I want to buy this glass side table at Accent Tables Boutique, I just remind myself that I should channel our funds to more useful and important things, like an aircon!
Best gift for the best mom
Nanay’s birthday is fast approaching, she’ll be turning 65 this year. Despite her age, she’s still strong and able to do most things, especially taking care of Gwen. She’s been there with us since I gave birth, she does the laundry, cooks for us, and most of all, takes care of Gwen. She endured all of these because of her love for her beloved granddaughter. That’s why I wanted to give mother of pearl giftson her birthday, as a sign of appreciation for all the love she had shown. I know she deserved more than that, and we will be forever grateful that we have my nanay by our side.
