When your kids are in school, it is a must that as parents, we will provide them all the necessary materials and tools as support with their studies. The demands of schoolwork is very challenging, both on the side of the parents and students. Hindi sapat ang moral support for our kids, dapat we have to provide them the right tools to aid in their studies like laptop and reliable Internet connection for their research and assignments. One thing that is often overlooked is having a printer at home. Kids will always be kids. No matter how vigilant and extra careful we are about their safety, accidents are inevitable. Boo-boos, scrapes, and cuts are part of childhood, but I’m sure all of you can relate, each of them gives me a heart attack!

Gwen is growing up and every day, she tries to learn new things. She’s learning how to ride a bike, and even if she’s wearing knee pads, she would end up having scratches at the end of a ride. One time, she and her cousins we’re playing tag and running so fast, and I’m sure you know what happens next, nadapa! She came home crying with a wounded knee, and we had a hard time cleaning it up because she wails whenever we touch her knee.

That’s what I always hear way back my childhood days whenever I come home crying because of a wounded knee. My nanay would chase me right then and there because she will pour alcohol on the wound to kill the bacteria. Those were the days, and you know what? We’re doing it all wrong! Using antiseptic such as alcohol or hydrogen peroxide (agua oxigenada) might do more harm than good. I came up with a list of some common mistakes about wound care, it really helps to learn something new each day.

Happy 2016! Sorry, if I’ve been on hiatus the whole Christmas vacation. Jeff and I filed the 28th and 29th of December as VL from our work just so we can have a long vacation, hence the lack of updates but I’m still active on IG and FB. Right after Christmas, we went to the beach with friends and then stayed in Tagaytay after. I’ll post about it especially our Burot Beach getaway, it’s a dream come true to go camping for us!

I know it’s a bit late to post my One Word for 2016 but it’s only the first week of January. It’s my first time to do this and I hope it’ll help me guide my direction for this year.

My chosen one word is ACHIEVE.

In the Kitchen will be the category where I will post some of the recipes I cook for my family. I promise you these are super-duper easy recipes because I’m really not an expert in the kitchen plus the fact that I don’t want recipes with so many steps/how-tos. Just 4-6 instructions, anything more than that, I skip the page of my recipe book and look for simpler recipes. So newbies in the kitchen, I hope you’ll try my recipes or suggestions and let’s share kitchen secrets!

Whenever there are choices for side dishes in a restaurant, we never fail to order mac and cheese. It’s a favorite and yet I haven’t cooked one in our kitchen. I thought it’s complicated and that it required continuous stirring and later on baking. But lo and behold, I learned that I can whip up an easy mac and cheese recipe without baking. Well, baking is optional if you want that cheesy crust. I got another secret… I’m using Jolly Cream of Mushrooms in my Mac and Cheese, it’s one hack that made my pasta dish more creamy.
