Seminar for Parents: You Are Your Child’s First and Best Teacher

March 11, 2013 9 Comments

It’s such a blessing to be part of mommy groups in FB. The online world is full of supportive and enriching parents ready to help other new parents in raising their children. Parenting style nowadays is going back to the basics. Breastfeeding is the norm. Moms choose to be a WAHM so that they can be with their children. Dads are more involved. Most parents are now considering homeschooling for their children.

Gwen is 2 years old and this summer, we’re planning to enroll her in a toddler school just to see if she’s ready. Aside from that, we are all running of ideas what to teach her. She knows her ABC too well, she knows the colors, shapes and numbers, she mastered all the nursery rhymes on YouTube, she memorized it well that she recites them in a poem/monologue style sometimes, she’s already bored. Now, I just let her use her magnetic sketchpad to practice her on holding a pencil.

At this point, I don’t know what else can a 2-year-old can learn and what else can a clueless mommy teach her. So I’m attending this parenting seminar called “You Are Your Child’s First and Best Teacher” by Mariel Uyquiengco of The Learning Basket to be held at the Medela House on March 23, 2013, 9 to 11 am.

About The Talk:
“You Are Your Child’s First and Best Teacher” is for parents of children ages 0 to 3. It’s perfect for first time parents who may not yet be confident in their parenting skills and who want to connect with other parents.  It aims to help parents support their children’s development by exploring the mindset of being the first and best teacher, discussing the basics of child development, and providing examples and ideas of appropriate activities for each developmental level. It would be a good venue to share experiences and connect with other parents.
How to Register:
Fill up the form HERE.
Registration is P250 but will be waived if you buy a minimum of P500 worth of books or toys from The Learning Basket’s booth during the event.

Thank you for posting this, Mommy Bernadette! And you’re right, there is a need to go back to the “basics,” and it’s start at home!

And you’re not clueless! You’re doing a great job with your daughter! 🙂

Kids these days get bored easily, so we, their parents, should know how to make their days at home exciting and fun. I’m sure you’ll learn a lot from attending that parenting seminar.

Buti may mga seminars na ganito, at least mas may alam na tayong mga mommies with our children (I mean mga ideas sa pagturo etc)

I was a preschool teacher (well for 3 yrs old) for awhile. Our school focused more on playing as means of learning. Naaapply ko naman sa kids ko, big help 🙂
