The poem I wrote for Nanay in 2006 #BeedasiNanay

May 8, 2015 1 Comment

I can’t put into words a Mother’s Day post for my Nanay, a serious one at that after I wrote 4 Funny and Endearing Facts About Nanay the other day. I was on Facebook waiting for an inspiration when I suddenly remembered that I wrote a Tagalog poem for her when I was still on Xanga. I scoured my email accounts to search for the back-up files. Ang dami kong nahalungkat, LOL!  I blogged on Xanga when I was 20-something, and this poem, based from the archive, is dated May 13, 2006. Sinulat ko rin to para sa Mother’s Day 2006, I don’t know if I made sense, basta don’t judge! So kung 2006 to, I was 24 noon, kaya please wag nyo ko pagtawanan.

Here’s what my 24-year-old self wrote to Nanay (wala pang title)

Away, bati, away, bati

Sabing walang tatawa eh 😛

My 24-year-old self was so selfish back then. I was reading my poem and it felt so silly and shallow. But now that I became a mother, I can truly understand Nanay. If I can only turn back the time, I will do things differently and will show more love, respect, obedience, and appreciation to her. Since it’s not possible, ngayon na lang ako bumabawi kay Nanay.

Please watch this video from Jollibee entitled Da Best Ang Nanay Ko! about a mother-son relationship. A very light and simple video of a mother’s love, and how simple things like a Jollibee Chickenjoy can bring a smile to our mothers.

That’s why this Mother’s Day, let’s go and treat our nanay at Jollibee, dahil sa Jollibee, #BeedasiNanay. Our favorite 1-piece Chickenjoy with Jolly Spaghetti SOLO is now Php 99 while the 1-piece Chickenjoy with rice is only Php 79.
