In the Kitchen: Tuna Pesto Pasta with Olives

April 23, 2019 5 Comments

In the Kitchen will be the category where I will post some of the recipes I cook for my family. I promise you these are super-duper easy recipes because I’m really not an expert in the kitchen plus the fact that I don’t want recipes with so many steps/how-tos. Just 4-6 instructions, anything more than that, I skip the page of my recipe book and look for simpler recipes. So newbies in the kitchen, I hope you’ll try my recipes or suggestions and let’s share kitchen secrets!

Tuna Pesto Pasta with Olives is another easy recipe I cooked during Holy Week. But this can be enjoyed and cooked any time you want quick and delicious pasta dish. Jeff doesn’t like pesto dishes but he likes this pasta dish, he just removes the olives.

Actually, the recipe can be found at the back of Clara Ole’s Cheesy Pesto pack, tried it and it’s good kaya I’m sharing it to you. Promise, kahit nakapikit kayo, tapos dump nyo lang yung mga ingredients for the sauce, hindi kayo magkakamali. I don’t even have to add salt and pepper in the pesto sauce, sakto na yung timpla eh.

Ingredients

To cook the pasta:
250 grams pasta of your choice (you can use penne, fettucine, or spaghetti)
5 cups water for boiling
salt

For the sauce:
8 cloves of garlic, minced
1 can of tuna in oil, drained
sliced olives
1 pack of Clara Ole Cheesy Pesto

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a pan. Use a little bit of oil from the Cheesy Pesto pack para tipid :), around 2 tablespoons.
  3. Saute the garlic, wag nyong hayaang maging brown, pang-sinangag lang yung ganun. Sakto lang.
  4. Add the tuna, remember to drain the oil or else your sauce will be runny. If you want you can also use tuna in brine para less oily.
  5. Add the sliced olives.
  6. Add in the cooked pasta. Mix well.
  7. Serve and enjoy!

If you don’t have olives, you can skip it. Pampa-shala lang yang olives, I love olives kasi. If you like it spicy, add chili flakes.

Ang dali lang di ba? Seasoned na yung sauce kaya di ka na talaga magtitimpla. I didn’t add cheese na rin kasi maalat na yung sauce.

Try this mommies kahit sinasabi nyo na di kayo marunong magluto, you can never go wrong with this recipe, promise!
