When friends came to visit #itsmorefuninthephilippines

March 3, 2014 7 Comments

We had friends from Germany who came to the Philippines for a vacation last week, and because of that, we took the #itsmorefuninthephilippines by heart. Jeff showed them around, took them for an overnight hike at Mt. Batulao last weekend (Jeff brought the tent and food), and even dropped them to where they were staying, tour guide lang ang peg. Actually, it was Jeff who met Chris and Hong the last time we were in Hong Kong. Jeff joined a Sunday hiking group while Gwen and I went shopping hehe. After their hiking, they still keep in touch thanks to Facebook.

For their annual vacation, after visiting Singapore, their next stop is the Philippines and they already planned their itineraries, hiking included. Si Jeff na bahala dun :p.

In the Kitchen: Ginisang Repolyo (Sauteed Cabbage with Chicken)

February 16, 2014 13 Comments

In the Kitchen will be the category where I will post some of the recipes I cook for my family. I promise you these are super-duper easy recipes because I’m really not an expert in the kitchen plus the fact that I don’t want recipes with so many steps/how-tos. Just 4-6 instructions, anything more than that, I skip the page of my recipe book and look for simpler recipes. So newbies in the kitchen, I hope you’ll try my recipes or suggestions and let’s share kitchen secrets!

If I can’t think of something to cook or we got tired of eating meat, I always cook Ginisang Repolyo. It’s the easiest (and cheapest too!) vegetable recipe that one can cook. You may throw in  whatever meat you like, I use ground pork or beef or bits of chicken breast, whatever’s available in the freezer.

My sweetest Valentine gift

February 14, 2014 2 Comments

Jeff and I are not fans of Valentines, in fact, we have no plans for tomorrow except for going to the gym after office. We usually go to the mall during Fridays but tomorrow is V-day na, payday pa, so I’m sure people will go out and traffic will be worse.

But these non-Valentines believers got a card from our cutie cupid…

KidZania Manila soon to open in Taguig

February 13, 2014 5 Comments

The news about KidZania theme park opening here in Manila got me excited than the rumors of Disneyland opening here in the Philippines! KidZania is set to open at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig by November 2014. It is franchised by Play Innovations Inc., which is under ABS-CBN Corporation. It’s tagged as an “edutainment facility” (educational entertainment).

Breaking Bad…. Breaking Bald

February 12, 2014 2 Comments

I am MIA again! And it seems that all I do is explain why I am not blogging again after promising to be here regularly. But thanks to the pep talk from Peachy, I snapped back from my laziness. I won’t tell you what she said :p, it’s our little secret.

Aside from being melancholic last week because Tatay (Jeff’s grandfather) died, I just spent my evening playing with Gwen and after that sleeping. And just when I promised myself to blog, Jeff suddenly decided to have a Breaking Bad marathon. It’s been years since we had a series marathon, yung 24 pa!

Batanes trip 2014

January 15, 2014 30 Comments

Our trip to Batanes was an AWESOME way to start our year. This trip wasn’t planned at all, well, until we booked that Php 1,500+ RT promo fare last October from PAL Express. You see, we always book months ahead (think 6 to 9 months before our trip), and thanks to Cebu Pacific and PAL Express, we were able to spread our trips for 2014. So adding another destination was unplanned, but less-than-a-thousand pesos fare is too cheap to pass up.

Our flight to Batanes is January 1st at 6 am. When I booked the flight, I didn’t see any problem since December 31 naman ang putukan di ba? Eeeeep, I miscalculated. If our flight is at 6 am, we should be in the airport by 4 am, which means we have to leave from Caloocan around 3 am. And thanks to the overpriced overnight parking fees at the airport, we decided not to bring the car and just take the cab. Wait… cab during the New Year’s Celebration?! Either it’s very difficult to pass the streets because of the fireworks or there are no taxis at 2 am/3 am because the drivers are celebrating. The solution, go to the airport before the New Year. Our plan is to check in or look for a place to leave our bags and head to Resorts World to have dinner and watch their concert for the New Year. But we just stayed and Gwen slept in a dimly lit hallway at the airport right after midnight. (We just stayed because we were stressed by the baggage issues of PAL Express).
