Trick or Treat in Boracay 2012

November 12, 2012 3 Comments

Because trick or treat is more fun in Boracay, we flew again this year for the halloween celebration and for my birthday. Our first day in the island was October 30, we checked in at the hotel around noon and rested a bit. At around 3 pm, we decided to head to D’Mall for a late lunch and to inquire about halloween activities for the kids. When we passed by Bombom bar, we saw the kids in costumes lining up and walking towards the shops. Uh oh! It turns out that the trick or treat was scheduled that day and not on the 31st. Not wasting time, Jeff rushed back to the hotel and grabbed Gwen’s Indian costume. The kids were almost finished collecting candies at the shops but at least we got to catch up even for a few minutes.

I must say, ibang level talaga ang mga costumes dito! Maybe because they don’t have an SM here where they can buy ready made costumes that’s why their creativity is maximized.

My little Indian girl in a tutu (DIY Indian costume)

November 6, 2012 9 Comments

I’m back! We just came back from sunny Boracay and as much as I’d like to post all the things that happened, I still have a lot of backlogs. So before our vacation, allow me to start to post about the trick or treat activities before we left.

From my DIY Halloween costumes post, I got inspired by the girl’s tutu and decided to make one for Gwen. She will be a glamorized Indian, hehe… Thank God for YouTube, making a no-sew tutu is easy-peasy! It’s so easy I wanna make tutus in all colors. All you need are tulle fabric, scissors, garter or ribbon, watch and follow this No Sew Tutu tutorial and voila!

Caring for baby’s bum and debunking the baby powder myth

October 28, 2012 3 Comments

Caring for our baby’s skin is quite tricky, we can never really try one product to another on our baby’s skin. Moreso, when we talk about our baby’s bum. A baby’s bum is more sensitive and is more prone to react that may lead to diaper rashes because it is exposed to urine and poop.

I’m just thankful that Gwen’s skin is not sensitive, or maybe I’ve used the correct product right from the start hence Gwen and I were saved from the horrors of a diaper rash. Even when Gwen was still a newborn, I already used Johnson’s Baby Skin Care Wipes (the pink one) on her bum. She’s exclusively breastfed then, she pooped a lot, and I used lots of baby wipes on her and she never got diaper rashes. When my friend learned that I’m using baby wipes in cleaning her bum, she was in disbelief and told me to use cotton dipped in warm water only so as not to irritate baby’s skin. But I politely told her that Gwen has no allergic reactions with the wipes so I continued using it on her, convenient pa! Later on, I found out that Johnson’s Baby Skin Care Wipes indeed helps in preventing rash like a diaper cream because it cleans and coats baby’s bum with baby lotion.

When Gwen was 6 months old, I had a makeshift diaper caddy containing all her essentials. Oh look, pink Johnson’s baby wipes!

Halloween Events in Boracay 2012

October 24, 2012 3 Comments

We will be spending the Halloween in Boracay once again! Although, we’re more likely to join the Trick or Treat in D’Mall, here’s the round-up of some Halloween gimmicks from the resorts in Boracay.

Read about Gwen’s first trick or treat in Boracay.

I’m excited this year because Gwen will have a playmate. Lia, bibiyow of Marsy, will be there too! And another reader Jha will be there together with her kids. If you’re going to the island too, drop by to say hi and let’s chika over Jonah’s =)

If you’re staying in Shangri-La Boracay, you’re so shala, hehe… They have a Spooktacular Holiday in Paradise:

Vitapops Wacky Science Fair at SM Mall of Asia

October 23, 2012 10 Comments

Vitapops held its Wacky Science Fair at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall yesterday. I just love these kind of events that I can bring my family, since Vitapops is for kids, all the activities were targeted for them.

Read my Vitapops review and know why Gwen and my nephew love Vitapops here: Kid-approved: Unilab’s Vitapops

To be able to enter and enjoy the Wacky Science Fair, you  just have to buy Php 50 worth of Vitapops and you’ll be given game passes that you can use inside. Lotsa fun games and activities for the kids, mommies and daddies too! Kids enjoyed being a scientist for a day with fun and safe science experiments. Mommy-daughter tandem went kikay at the Pop Spa where they had a mani-pedi session. Other entertainment includes the side performances of clowns, magicians, unicyclists, stilt walkers, bubble maker, and ventriloquist.

For us, we just hanged out at the Playpen, Gwen picked up some crayons and started doodling on the toys, not the coloring books, eeerrr, sorry…
